The Best (and Easiest) Spring Blooms!
Bright Spring blooms are the cheeriest way to kick off the season. What’s even better? Blooms that come back year after year with minimal effort. Below is my list of plants that offer beautiful flowers with the least amount of work.
1. Bleeding Heart (Diocentra spectabilis)
This showy perennial has gorgeous pink flowers and blooms in early spring. Great in sun to partial shade. Plant once and you’re done, with blooms year after year. So easy!
Rhododendron shrubs are so EASY to maintain in a garden! Evergreen rhododendrons maintain their leaves year round, and provide a showy bloom in the spring. They do well in part-shade to sun and grow with every passing year. Some get to 10 feet tall!
3. Kerria Japonica ‘Pleniflora’
A burst of buttery yellow flowers is a visual reminder that summer will be here someday! The plant does spread slowly, but is also easy to transplant. Great for cut flowers! Grows well in full or partial sun and requires little maintenance.
A beautiful centerpiece flower, the blooming tulip is a sure sign spring has arrived.
The hardy, easy to grow, low maintenance lilac is a magnet for butterflies. Fragrant blooms work wonderfully as cut flowers, or leave them on the shrub to perfume your garden.
6. Bluebells (Hyacinthoides hispanica)
Blue flowers emerge from lovely green leaves to create clusters of color in early spring. These bulbs do spread easily, so it is helpful to divide them yearly or plant them in pots.
