Over the summer, I painted my front door a sunny shade of yellow. While the bright color is so warm and inviting, I am still working on making the rest of the porch as inviting. The biggest issue we have at my house is storage…and shoes. All of us have a lot of shoes–from rain boots to sneakers to sandals, the shoes seem to multiply overnight! Our entire first floor has NOT ONE CLOSET, which forces me to become creative with a solution for shoes. The kids and I each have a basket by the back door for shoes, but my husband’s shoes are too big for the baskets so they end up living on the front porch and its. driving. me. nuts. My solution? A large decorative bench by the front door with a lid that lifts for hidden shoe storage! Genius.

As I continue to design my front porch, I have found some wonderful items to complete my porch.
