Crate & Barrel or Walmart?
I LOVE Crate & Barrel. It was one of two stores with which my husband and I registered for our wedding, and I love and adore my Parker mixing bowls that I purchased there 10+ years ago.
We are slowly are upgrading our furniture in our house (ya know, finally we can justify donating the hand-me-downs to truly make our house OURS). Letting go of our overstuffed cream leather couches in our living room is surprisingly difficult, despite the fact that they were given to me by my brother’s now ex-girlfriend because she hated them so much. We’ve had them for 11 years now…Change can be hard for me!
So, now that we are slowly adding pieces to our house, I am diligently consulting my options. While I want style and quality, I also have faced the reality that we have two toddlers, two dogs, and two cats also living in our house. That’s a whole lot of hair, claws, and juice boxes. The dogs and cats will damage furniture in a different, yet equally destructive, way than the kids. I am envisioning a battle of claws versus markers on our furniture. The furniture cannot win!
Here I will share some of my favorite low-cost, high-style furniture options to make your house fabulous!
Chairs
Splurge:
The Cavett chair from Crate & Barrel features a 1950’s design and is constructed from solid walnut. The price for this chair begins at $1099.00, with multiple different finishes, including leather. You can find it here.
Save:
The Flynn chair from Walmart is $169 and features similar mid-century modern lines, with a wooden frame and solid, neutral cushions and comes in two colors. Score! You can find the chair here: Better Homes and Gardens Flynn Mid-Century Chair Wood with Linen Upholstery
Couches
Splurge:
The Petrie sofa by Crate & Barrel starts out at about $1800. I love the angular, clean lines and there is an array of color options.
You can find the Crate & Barrel sofa here.
BUUUUT, I like to shop around and consider my options.
Save:
Walmart has a very similar version. It’s called Dashing Sofa in Gray Linen Fabric and you can find it here: Dashing Sofa In Gray Linen Fabric
Its retail price is WELL below the Crate & Barrel couch. A steal!
What do you think? Do you prefer the high-end furniture or the deals?
